Annual General Meeting 2008
[Fri 16-May-08, updated 29-May-08]      The 2008 Annual General Meeting of the 6024 Preservation Society Ltd will be held at Kidderminster Railway Museum on the Severn Valley Railway, at 2pm on Sunday 15 June 2008.
The agenda for the meeting will include:
  1. Welcome and introduction
  2. Apologies. (Please forward these to the Secretary 14 days beforehand)
  3. Minutes of the 2007 Annual General Meeting.
  4. Matters arising.
  6. Officers Reports.
      a) Membership
      b) Finance
      c) Secretary
      d) Engineering
      e) Operations
  6. To consider accounts
  7. Motions.
  8. Election of officers.
  9. Any other business.
  9. Date and time of next meeting (Feb 2009).
Details will be circulated shortly.

There will also be an Extraordinary General Meeting at 10.30am at the same venue and date to discuss the resignation of the last Chairman.

6024 King Edward I is due to be at the Severn Valley Railway at the time of the AGM.

King's Messenger no 85 Spring 2008
Kings Messenger #85 [Fri 16-May-08]      The Spring 2008 issue of King's Messenger is due to be published shortly. This edition includes the regular features including the General Manager's Report, an Engineering report by Huw Button, Martyn Bane and Bob Robson. There is also an item on the future of 6024 in a changing world by Richard Corser, plus an article on the role of the Support Crew by Tim Watson, and a Footplateman's Diary by Frank Sutton. Members should receive their copies by post shortly.

Annual Members Day 2008
[Tue 11-Mar-08]      The 2008 Annual Members Day for Club 60-Twenty Four Members will be held at the Severn Valley Railway Railway on Saturday 27 September 2008. The King will be at the Severn Valley, having attended the Autumn Steam Gala over the previous weekend.

King's Messenger no 84 Autumn 2007
Kings Messenger #81 [Wed 19-Dec-07]      The Autumn issue of King's Messenger has now been mailed to members. This edition includes the regular features including an Engineering report by Martyn Bane covering boiler water treatment and the water carrier. A railtour review by Alan Lathey, Mike Notley and Huw Button, features the Red Dragon, the Yeovil Betrothal and the Torbay Express. Other features include an article on the Kings in the West during the mid 1950s by Peter Kerslake, and "Polands Precious Steam Oasis" by Alex West.

Kings Messenger #81 [Wed 01-Aug-07]      King's Messenger No 83 has now been published. This edition includes all the regular features including the General Manager, Membership and Engineering reports, together with an article on Support Crewing the Torbay Express by Leon Salter. In addition it includes Part 4 of Brian Penney's reminiscences of "Working with Kings". A Railtour Review by Alan Lathey describes 6024's recent excursions into Cornwall.

Annual General Meeting - Sat 30 June 2007
[Fri 15-Jun-07]      The 2007 Annual General Meeting of the 6024 Preservation Society Ltd will be held at 2pm on Saturday 30 June at the Village Hall, Bishops Lydeard, near Taunton, Somerset. The Village Hall is a short walk from the West Somerset Railway station. The calling notice for the meeting with further details of agenda and venue will be despatched to members shortly.

Annual Members Day at The West Somerset Railway - Sun 24 June 2007
[Fri 15-Jun-07]      The 2007 Annual Members Day for Club 60-Twenty Four Members will be held at the West Somerset Railway on Sunday 24 June 2007. The King will head a members special train departing from Bishops Lydeard at 12.55 arriving at Minehead at 14.40. The train will return from Minehead at 16.50 arriving back at Bishops Lydeard at 17.55. On the outward journey a light meal of fruit juice plated Ploughmans followed by apple pie and clotted cream will be served. Members are asked for a donation of £10.00 towards costs. Application and remittance is required by Thursday 21 June. Further details may be found in the attached letter (pdf file)

King's Messenger no 82 Autumn/Winter 2006
Kings Messenger #82 [Sat 30-Jan-07]      King's Messenger No 82 has now been published. This in addition to all the regular features including the General Manager, Membership reports, together with an Engineering Report by Steve Underhill and Martin Bayne describing the Porta water treatment being used by 6024. This issue also includes includes Part 3 of Brian Penney's reminiscences of "Working with Kings", and a Railtour Review by Huw Button.

King's Messenger no 81 Summer 2006
Kings Messenger #81 [Sat 30-Sep-06]      King's Messenger No 81 has now been published. This edition includes all the regular features including the General Manager, Membership and Engineering reports, together with a profile of support team member Bob Robson. In addition it includes Part 2 of Brian Penney's reminiscences of "Working with Kings", a Railtour Review by Mike Notley and Huw Button, and further members 75th Anniversary contributions. Because of space limitations, the planned item on the water carrier has been held over to the next issue, which will also feature an article on water treatment by Martyn Bane.

Annual Members Day at The Severn Valley Railway - Sat 17 June 2006
[Fri 12-May-06]      The 2006 Annual Members Day for Club 60-Twenty Four Members will be held at the Severn Valley Railway on Saturday 17 June 2006. The King will run light engine from Tyseley to the SVR on Friday 16 June, and will then work the 10.30 and 14.15 departures from Kidderminster, and the 12.35 and 16.40 departures from Bridgnorth on Saturday 17 June. By arrangement with the SVR, production of a current membership card by paid up Society Members will allow travel for two adults and up to two children on Saturday 17 June. A Club barbeque will be held in the station gardens at Arley station between 12.30 and approximately 15.00. A nominal contribution towards cost of refreshments is requested. Application and remittance for barbeque tickets is required by Friday 2 June. Further details may be found in the attached letter. (pdf file)

King's Messenger no 80 Winter 2005/06
Kings Messenger #80 [Sat 18-Mar-06]      King's Messenger No 80 has now been despatched to members. After the special anniversary issue no 79, this edition returns to the more traditional style. In addition to the regular features including the General Manager, Membership and Engineering reports, the latter inclduing progress on the water wagon, this issue also features fascinating reminscences by two professional railwaymen with many years experience. They include Brian Penney's account of the tasks involved in keeping steam traction going including his story of a year spent at Swindon. Ray Churchill provides more memories with some "warts and all" sessions on 6024's footplate.

Kings Messenger #79 [Tue 08-Nov-05]      King's Messenger No 79 has now been despatched to members. This edition celebrates the 75th Anniversary of 6024 with the personal thoughts and recollections from 44 different Members, recounting their experience and associations with the engine and the Society.

75th Anniversary Members Day at Old Oak Common Depot - Sat 25 June 2005
[Thu 02-Jun-05]      By courtesy of English Welsh and Scottish Railways (EWS), the Society will be holding a Members Day at Old Oak Common on Saturday 25 June 2005 (1100 to 1600 hours) to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the introduction of 6024 into service by the GWR in 1930. It is planned that the locomotive will be in steam providing footplate rides. A barbecue lunch with non-alcoholic drinks and beverages will be available. All members are invited to attend.

Access to this event will be on a strictly ticket only basis. Tickets must be applied for in advance. There will be no access on the day for those without pre-booked tickets. Access is limited to Members (free) and up to 3 nominated guests (for a small charge). Full details and application form for tickets may be found in this notice which has been mailed out to members. Application forms should be returned by 13 June 2005. Please take note of the safety and security information on the application form. Access to the site will be limited to a designated area only.

Additional railtour - Thu 9 June 2005
[Wed 01-Jun-05]      No 6024 has been requested at short notice to haul the Steam Dreams "Cathedral Express" tour from London to Bath and Bristol on Thursday 9 June, in place of Black 5 no 45231 which is not yet certified for main line use. The train departs from London Victoria Calling at Kensington Olympia and will then travel in both directions via the Great Western Main Line, picking up at Maidenhead and Reading, then via Newbury, before calling at Bath and finally Bristol Temple Meads. This should be an excellent opportunity to travel behind 6024 over a regular stamping ground of the Kings in days gone by. See Railtour page for further details.

Annual General Meeting
[Wed 01-Jun-05]      The next Annual General Meeting of the 6024 Preservation Society Ltd will be held at 2pm on Saturday 23 July 2005 at the Tyseley Working Mens Club, 573 Warwick Road, Tyseley, Birmingham (opposite Tyseley Locomotive Works). The Secretary will be despatching the necessary notices and documents to members in due course. All Members are invited to attend.
