Club 60-24 Annual Members’ Day
20th October 2019
West Somerset Railway – Quantock Belle
Once again the annual ‘Club 60-24’ Members’ Day has been arranged to take place at the West Somerset Railway (WSR) on the above date, to view progress and, hopefully, see the locomotive chassis reunited with its fully restored and final undercoated tender.
As in previous years, the Society has been able to hire the WSR ‘Quantock Belle’ for the Society’s exclusive use. The WSR will be running their four train timetable, with the Quantock Belle scheduled to leave Bishops Lydeard at approximately 13.00 hours, arriving in Minehead at approximately 14.15 hours. During the journey an appetiser of salmon and dill pate, followed by leek and potato soup and a main course of roast beef with seasonal accompaniments will be served. An alternative vegetarian option of red pepper and basil hummous with ciabatta crostini and salad garnish followed by roasted vegetable gratin with rosemary potatoes and seasonal vegetables will be available. Please indicate, as appropriate, on the form which can be downloaded here.
We will have approximately three hours in Minehead which should allow good time to inspect the progress on the overhaul in the WSR Minehead works, before re-joining the Quantock Belle, departing at approximately 18.00 hours. A dessert of apple and blackberry crumble followed by tea or coffee will be served, arriving Bishops Lydeard at approximately 19.15 hours.
As in previous years and to contribute towards the (not inconsiderable) cost of the train hire, the Society is making a nominal charge of £30.00 per head to help defray the cost. I would be grateful if you could enter your full details on the enclosed/attached form and return it together with a cheque made payable to the ‘6024 Preservation Society Ltd’., and a C5 stamped addressed envelope, to arrive by no later than Friday 4th October. You will appreciate that on-board catering facilities are somewhat limited and any special dietary requests, vegetarian/allergies, must be pre-requested and certainly not asked for on the day!
Last year’s event was fully subscribed, with a waiting list of members and, therefore, it is with regret that members are restricted to just one guest this year.
