We are pleased to announce that on Wednesday 29 July work was restarted on 6024 at Minehead following the enforced break since March. Work continued over the following three days with people working in “bubbles” to maintain the required social distancing.

Work initially focussed on preparing the boiler barrel cladding sheets and boiler bands. We hope to be able to fit these within a few weeks. The intention is to fit them around the same time as the superheater header, elements and chimney. In preparation for this work on lagging the boiler has also recommenced.

Other work undertaken included adjustments to vacuum brake pipework under the new ashpan.

It is hoped to be able to continue with a minimum of two days a week working throughout August.
